BIO

Ross Convertino is the athletic director and varsity basketball coach for Rivendell Academy in Orford NH. In his second year of coaching the Raptors, 2019-20 season, the team finished 20-3 and advanced to the Vermont state semifinal game. Convertino was named SVL C-Division Coach of the Year and three players received SVL All-Conference honors. 


Prior to Rivendell Academy, Convertino was an assistant men’s basketball coach for one season at Lamar CC (Lamar CO). The Runnin’ Lopes finished the season 20-11 and 1st place in the Region IX South Division. Three players signed scholarships with NCAA Division I programs and three to NCAA Division II programs.  


From 2013-15 Convertino was an assistant men’s basketball coach for Western Texas College. His responsibilities included coaching, player development, recruiting, scouting, and film exchange. He also served as the program’s strength and conditioning coach. The Westerners finished the 2013-14 season 23-8 with wins over #1 nationally ranked South Plains College, #3 New Mexico JC and #10 Lee College. During his time with WTC, Ten Westerners earned scholarships with NCAA Division I programs and six with NCAA Division II programs.  


Prior to Western Texas College, Convertino served as Graduate Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Gonzaga University men’s basketball program. During this time the Bulldogs won both a West Coast Conference regular season and tournament championship. The Bulldogs finished the 2012-13 season ranked #1 in the country and earned the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament #1-seed.     


Convertino spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach for Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA and the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons as an assistant coach for The Winchendon School in Winchendon, MA. Between the two New England preparatory schools, Convertino coached over 20 student athletes who went on to play NCAA Division I basketball including Orlando Magic’s Khem Birch who was a 2011 McDonald’s All-American.  



Additionally, Convertino has coached AAU teams ranging from 10U-17U as well as numerous summer camps. In 2008, he earned a bachelor’s degree in sport psychology from The University of Connecticut where he also served as a student manager for Hall-of-Fame inductee Jim Calhoun. He earned his master’s degree in sport and athletic administration from Gonzaga University in 2013.
